Fat cats and other feline record breakers
Dear Readers
We are a day late on this post, but better late then never.
We took the day off yesterday to take our grandson to see G-Force, which is very cute movie, kind of like a cross between James Bond G -pigs and transformers. Well any way I digress from our blog subject today, which is feline record breakers.
Let’s start with the fattest cat on record, who’s name is Himmy, a tabby belonging to Thomas Vyse of Redlynch, Queensland, Australia. Himmy weighed 46 lb., 15.25 oz, and died in 1986 at 10 years of age. Fearing people will simply overfeed their cats to top the record, a fully justifiable reason, Guiness Book of Records stopped accepting applications for this record.
Then we have the worlds longest cat, who’s name is Verismo Leonetti Reserve Red, or simply “Leo” is Frieda Ireland’s pet cat. According to Guinness World Record, Leo is the world’s longest cat - he weighed 35 lb and measured 48 inches tall from the tip of his nose to the end of his tail and Guinness compares Verismo Leonetti Reserve Red to the same size as an 8 year old child and his paw just fits into a size 2 child’s shoe. But if he were a human to Guinness’s scale, Leo would stretch over 8 feet tall and weigh 220 pounds.
The worlds smallest cat record goes to Mr. Peeples. The Guinness Book of World Records has verified that Mr. Peebles is two years old, weighs about 1 kilo, is about 15 centimeters long and perfectly fits in a 200 ml glass.
The worlds old cat honor goes to Granpa Breaks. In mid-August, the Guinness Book of World Records confirmed that Granpa, who appeared in the March 1997 Cat Fancy centerfold, was the world’s longest-living cat. Granpa, who died on April 1, 1998, lived to be 34 years, two months and four hours. The previous record was 34 years and one day and had been set in 1957 by a tabby from England.
Have a great weekend and Brew sez’s make sure you do something fun with your pets this weekend.
