Dog saved from drain pipe
Dear Readers
Here is a great rescue story out of Knox County in Tennessee, that we wanted to share with you.
Apparently a dog that got stuck in a storm drain in Knox County Tennesse for several days is getting much needed vet care and looking for its owner, after a successful rescue effort Sunday night.
Neighbors in West Knox County in Tennesse called emergency Rural Metro crews after they heard barking coming from a drain.
The Rural Metro crews then confirmed that a dog was trapped about 40 feet down the pipe. Firefighters then had to started pumping clean air into the sewer because believed that oxygen levels were too low for the dog to survive.
A team that specializes in confined space rescues was called in to help save the dog.”They were quoted as saying that they believe that the dog had probably been there since July 4th and took refuge in the drain to escape all the fireworks,” Rick Conley with the Rural Metro said. “The drain opening on one end is open and it appears the dog just went in the open drain to escape the noise.
Shortly before 10 p.m. one of the rescuers pulled the terrifed mud covered dog to safety. Rescuers said the dog was trying to bite them which they believe is a good sign for the dog but not so great for the rescuers.
Animal Control officials rushed the canine to a near by veterinarian to be treated for what appeared to be signs of dehydration.
Crews were not sure if the dog has an owner. They will keep and treat the dog until the owner can be found, so if your missing a dog in West Knox county, he has been safely found and is anxiously waiting to go home.
